Description

Product description

Carefully sourced from the heart of the pristine Tarkine wilderness, a remote area immersed in the world's purest air and water. We hold the exclusive rights to access this region, where only 20 individuals annually are granted this privilege, with the Blue Hills family comprising half of them.

Tasmania, nestled in the world's cleanest air and water, is celebrated for its immaculate environment and vast wilderness heritage areas. Unpolluted winds traverse thousands of kilometers across the expansive Southern Ocean before caressing the shores of this island.

Located on the island's northwestern tip, Cape Grim is home to a monitoring station that captures the planet's most unpolluted air. This station serves as the global reference point for zero pollution levels worldwide.

Blue Hills Wilderness Honey is derived from the unspoiled temperate rainforests of the Tarkine, known for hosting some of the most pristine air and water globally. This distinction makes Blue Hills Wilderness Honey an unquestionably premium honey.

Blue Hills Honey utilizes a cold extraction method to preserve all the natural components of the honey.

How do we reliquefy the honey?

  1. Place the jar in a warm oven (less than 45°C) until liquid. This can take up to 2 hours.
  2. Place the jar in a pot of warm water (loose lid) on the stove (again less than 45°C) until liquid.
  3. Honey in the candy form isa favourite for the beekeepers themselves to eat.

When remelting your honey please remember to minimise the exposure to the heat source.

Are there any impurities in your honey and what are the specs?

During the extraction process there are not a lot of impurities. The natural beeswax is removed by a wax centrifuge. From here the honey is coarse filtered (1000micron) andthen the raw honey settles in a closed vat overnight. We then place the raw honey in the 300kg drums for storage. The honey is only harvested in Tasmania in the months of January, February and March. When required we melt the honey (always below 45°C). The honey then goes through a 300 micron filter to a hold-ing vat for packing. This is regarded as a coarse filtering and you will still see the occasional propolis spec in thehoney. To filter finer would remove the natural pollen and we feel change the flavour and structure of the honey(not a natural honey).

Note: Jar of each variety , plastic spoons (separate spoon for each tasting and not wooden as itchanges the taste of the honey), disposal bin for used spoons, napkins (for client), surfaceantiseptic for bench and demonstrators hands as there are usually honey spills.
