About Us

Founded in 1894 in Marseille, the Savonnerie du Midi is one of the city's last historical soap factories preserving traditional Marseille soap-making methods. Located in the Aygalades district, the factory was moved there post-World War II and continues to produce soap using the classic cauldron method, with about 300 tonnes made monthly—80% of which is exported.

Acquired by the PRODEF family business in 2013, which has been active in hygiene and cleaning products since 1924, the Savonnerie du Midi benefits from PRODEF's commitment to ecological and organic products. The factory has undergone significant renovations to modernize its facilities and is recognized as an Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (Living Heritage Company) for its craftsmanship.

The Savonnerie du Midi is also engaged in local development through the PaQte program and recently revamped its site with support from regional and state funds. Its museum received the QUALITE TOURISME label for its high standards.

 

Product Description

This soap from our Mediterranean range, crafted from vegetable oils and enriched with thyme, is certified organic. Experience the earthy scent of thyme and olive wood! Ideal for the whole family, it provides a gentle cleanse while leaving a subtle, refreshing fragrance.

Terres de Garrigue soap from the Mediterranean range is made exclusively from organic olive and coconut oils. Manufactured in our century-old soap factory, it is guaranteed to be free of palm oil and colouring agents. Enriched with organic Thyme, an active ingredient known for its protective and purifying properties, it exhales the Mediterranean scents of thyme and olive wood.

Organic & vegetable composition, COSMOS ORGANIC approved

This soap is certified COSMOS ORGANIC by Ecocert Greenlife according to the COSMOS standard.

99% of the ingredients are of natural origin.

77% of the total ingredients are from Organic Agriculture.
